The National Organization of Remediators and Mold Inspectors trains and certifies professionals in the mold abatement industry. NORMI also certifies
professionals in the fields of IAQ, Drinking Water, and other biological contaminants.
NORMI is a cooperative group of Certified IAQ/Mold Inspectors and Certified Mold Remediators who have successfully completed training and certification in those specific areas of expertise.
Our programs assure the consumer that the professional they choose evidences experience and adheres to a strict Code of Ethics.

NORMI CERTIFICATIONS

INSPECTORS
CMA – NORMI™ Certified Mold Assessor
The CMA is a fully licensed and insured professional, trained to meet specific state requirements for licensure (where applicable), who has completed at least 60 hours of education in advanced mold
assessment techniques including mold, water, and respiratory protection (PPE). Based on a NORMI proctored examination, this experienced professional develops an IAQ profile using investigative
techniques and writes protocol for either sanitization or remediation based on IICRC S500, IICRC S520, NYC Guidelines, and EPA Standards. The CMA has also been trained in corrosive drywall (CDW or
Chinese Drywall) screening and mitigation, based on the latest information provided by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), EPA, and other governmental controlling agencies.
Those wishing to "challenge" the examination on this certification, in lieu of attending the course, may do so by contacting NORMI at 877.251.2296 x 801 (NORMI Compliance and Standards Division)
to schedule, in advance, the proctored examination. NORMI Certification requires an educational/experience requirement, proof of insurance, and payment of the associated certification fee(s).
QMA – NORMI™ Qualified Mold Assessor
The QMA has completed the additional 16 hour course (total of 24 hours of classroom training) on IAQ/Mold Inspection and passed the test, showing proficiency in understanding how to investigate mold
problems, develop an IAQ profile, and offer suggestions for a solution.
CMI - NORMI™ Certified IAQ/Mold Inspector
The CMI does the investigation of IAQ/Mold Problems and develops an IAQ Profile for the purpose of recommending, based on NORMI™ criteria, either Sanitization or Remediation solutions. The CMI
has demonstrated in-field proficiency in the entire investigative process by completing actual inspections in the field.
QMI – NORMI™ Qualified IAQ/Mold Inspector
The QMI has completed the beginning 8 hour course on IAQ/Mold Inspection and passed the test, showed proficiency in understanding how to investigate mold problems, developing an IAQ profile, and
offering suggestions for a solution.
REMEDIATORS
CMR - NORMI™ Certified Mold Remediator
The CMR is a fully licensed and insured professional, trained to meet specific state requirements for licensure (where applicable), who has completed at least 30 hours of education in mold
remediation techniques including assessment, mold, water, and respiratory protection (PPE). Based on a NORMI proctored examination, this experienced professional develops follows industry standard
protocols for either sanitization and remediation based on IICRC S500, IICRC S520, NYS Guidelines, and EPA Standards. The CMR has also been trained in corrosive drywall (CDW or Chinese Drywall)

to standard methods that include establishing containment, negative pressure, and demolition.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANTS
CIEA - NORMI™ Certified Indoor Environmental Advisor
The CIEA has completed three days of training in all areas of IAQ and Water including the latest techniques for addressing both and is able to develop an entire Indoor Environmental Impact Evaluation
and offer extensive solutions affecting IAQ and Water Quality.
CEE - NORMI™ Certified Environmental Evaluator
The CEE is trained in an 8 hour course to evaluate indoor environments for the purpose of developing a profile of issues that dramatically affect IAQ, Drinking water, and other healthier living
issues and is familiar with current technologies available for solving such problems having been trained to offer a limited scope of solutions.
CFS - NORMI™ Certified Formaldehyde Screener
The CFS has completed a course on formaldehyde, the sources in our indoor environments, its deleterious health affects, screening processes to establish baselines and improvements, and methods by
which formaldehyde in indoor environments may be substantially reduced and managed. The first training of its kind is offered to the public and IAQ professionals who are concerned about reducing and
managing formaldehyde levels and other VOCs. Professionals are trained in utilizing both formaldehyde and microbe sampling to create healthier environments indoors.
QEE – NORMI™ Qualified Environmental Evaluator
The QEE has completed an 8 hour course on indoor environmental issues and passed the test, showed proficiency in understanding those issues and, having become familiar with current technologies
available for solving such problems, is able to offer a limited scope of solutions.
OTHER CERTIFICATIONS
CBA - NORMI™ Certified Biocide Applicator
The CBA is trained ONLINE or ONSITE to apply NORMI™ approved, green technology, safe and proven anti-microbials, protectants, encapsulates, biocides, and other chemicals for the prevention and
control of surface microbes including mold, bacteria, and algae. Being able to offer long-term warranties for such contaminants is a function of this certification.
CCDWA - NORMI™ Certified Contaminated Drywall Assessor
The NORMI Certified CDW Assessor (CCDWA)-The NORMI Certified CDW Assessor is a fully licensed and insured professional trained in all aspects of IAQ-related and CDW assessment because, first and foremost, the issues related to corrosive drywall are indoor air quality problems.
CCDWR - NORMI™ Certified Contaminated Drywall Remediator
The NORMI Certified CDW Remediator (CCDWR)-The NORMI Certified CDW Remediator is a fully licensed and insured construction professional who has met the stringent requirements associated with the mold remediation certification (NORMI Certified Mold Remediator) also offered by NORMI.
CIS - NORMI™ Certified Indoor Air Quality Specialist
This business professional has received extensive training in indoor air quality including the technologies used to solve indoor air quality problems. Indoor Air Quality is a multi-faceted problem
and requires a multi-strategic approach to solving those problems. These professionals are familiar with the vertical markets that comprise the industry as well as specific applications and onsite
installation of purification and filtration equipment.
FRAP - NORMI™ First Responder Awareness Program (Trainer/Provider)
This NORMI trained business professional provides quality training to Emergency Service Workers (Police, Fire, Paremetics, First Aid Workers, Healthcare Professionals, etc.) on the potential hazards
associated with MOLD and other indoor air quality contaminants as they could affect the health and safety of the Emergency First Responder. This service is provided, by request, FREE of charge to
interested groups as a part of the NORMI Community Awareness Program.
NTP - NORMI™ Trained Professional
The NTP, no less important to NORMI™ than the certified professionals, is a trained professional within our affiliate group of licensed HVAC Contractors, Building Contractors, IAQ Specialists,
Pesticide Applicators, and many others who are continuing to be trained by NORMI in their respective fields.
Affiliate - NORMI™ Affiliate Member
An Affiliate is an industry professional or Company that is a NORMI™ Member who may not have completed NORMI training or certification, but has the rights and privileges of an active member

PSP - NORMI™ Professional Screening Partner
If you sell indoor air quality products and services you need to be trained on assessing indoor environments. This program is designed to train IAQ Professionals in a solution-based assessment
process that includes surveying the customer for perceived IAQ problems, evaluating the indoor environment and quantifying those problems, and offering solutions that are wholistic and represent the
latest technologies for IAQ management. HVAC Contractors, Home Inspectors, Facility Maintenance Directors, and other IAQ Professionals will be trained in effective ways to solve indoor environmental
